Abbey Foundation
Helping fund veterinary care for
elderly and special needs rescue dogs.

~ Abbey ~

Who Are We?

The Abbey Foundation is named in memory of my beautiful rescue dog, a golden retriever/Irish setter-mix that my husband and I adopted in February, 2009.

Like many people, when I began my search for a new dog, I wanted one who would be with my family for many years. A dog who was three, maybe four years of age.

It didn't occur to me that Abbey, a ten-year old redhead with a grey muzzle and soulful eyes, would be that dog.

She needed me and I needed her. That's all that mattered.

When she passed away, I wanted to do something special - and helpful - in her memory.

Abbey taught me that elderly rescue dogs can be the best choice for many reasons, but they may be overlooked for adoption if their veterinary needs exceed financial limitations.

It's true that seniors may need a little more nip 'n' tuck if they are to compete with the youngsters,
and that's where Abbey Foundation will help. It's our aim to finance veterinary care to help these elderly dogs stand out from the crowd and find caring new homes to enjoy their retirement years.
